Showing and demonstrating musical folk instruments from various countries which have been constructed from found or recycled objects. This segues into the second element. |

Showing and demonstrating instruments which we ourselves have made out of found or recycled objects, briefly explaining the process used to change the original object into an instrument. Not actually instructions on how to make the item, but rather a series of idea stimulators for recycling & reusing items. This segues into the third element. |
|
Performance of five or six original songs about recycling. These songs have a part to teach the students which they can sing along with in the performance, which will serve to both involve the students as well as make the song and message more memorable. As we tell the students, all of these songs are based on "recycled" melodies from well known tunes. Partial lyrics to some of these songs are found below. The number of songs depends on the age range of the group and the time allotted. |

An optional follow-up workshop is available in
which the construction of some of the instruments is demonstrated and
explained. If raw (recycled) materials are available, the students can
participate and follow along, making their own instruments.

Instruction sheets are available for use by
teachers. These detail the steps to making some very simple recycled instruments
from easily obtained materials.
